ऐतिहासिक महत्व :

जयप्रकाश नारायण (1902-1979), जिन्हें अक्सर लोकनायक के नाम से जाना जाता है, भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के एक प्रमुख व्यक्ति और एक प्रमुख समाज सुधारक थे। उन्होंने भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई और बाद में 1970 के दशक में प्रधान मंत्री इंदिरा गांधी द्वारा लगाए गए आपातकाल के खिलाफ लड़ाई में एक अग्रणी व्यक्ति बन गए।
जेपी को विशेष रूप से संपूर्ण क्रांति के आह्वान के लिए जाना जाता है, जिसका उद्देश्य भारतीय समाज में आमूल-चूल परिवर्तन लाना था, जिसमें न केवल राजनीतिक सुधार बल्कि सामाजिक, आर्थिक और नैतिक परिवर्तन भी शामिल थे। 1974 के बिहार आंदोलन के दौरान उनका नेतृत्व और जनता पार्टी के गठन में उनकी भूमिका भारत की स्वतंत्रता के बाद के राजनीतिक इतिहास में महत्वपूर्ण क्षण थे।
यह एक रुपये का सिक्का 2002 में जेपी की जन्म शताब्दी के उपलक्ष्य में जारी किया गया था। यह सिक्का एक न्यायपूर्ण और न्यायसंगत समाज के लिए उनके दृष्टिकोण को श्रद्धांजलि के रूप में कार्य करता है।

HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE  :  

Jayaprakash Narayan (1902-1979), often referred to as Lok Nayak, was a prominent figure in India’s struggle for independence and a major social reformer. He played a crucial role in the Quit India Movement and later became a leading figure in the fight against the Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the 1970s.

JP is particularly known for his call for Total Revolution, which aimed to bring about a radical change in Indian society, encompassing not only political reforms but also social, economic, and moral changes. His leadership during the 1974 Bihar movement and his role in the formation of the Janta Party were key moments in India’s post-independence political history.

This One Rupee Coin was issued in 2002 to commemorate JP’s Birth Centenary. The coin serves as a tribute to his vision for a just and equitable society.
