ऐतिहासिक महत्व :

यह ₹2 स्मारक सिक्का 2003 में भारतीय रेलवे के 50 गौरवशाली वर्ष पूरे होने के अवसर पर जारी किया गया था, जिसने 1853 में मुंबई से ठाणे तक चलने वाली पहली यात्री ट्रेन के साथ अपनी यात्रा शुरू की थी। इसने देश के परिवहन और आर्थिक विकास में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। भारतीय रेलवे का शुभंकर “भोलू” एक हाथी है। यह सौम्य और मिलनसार हाथी रेलवे समुदाय का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है और इसे अक्सर रेलवे गार्ड की वर्दी में चित्रित किया जाता है, जो भारतीय रेलवे प्रणाली के भीतर सुरक्षा और सेवा के महत्व का प्रतीक है। भोलू एक व्यापक रूप से मान्यता प्राप्त चरित्र बन गया है, विशेष रूप से प्रचार सामग्री में और सुरक्षा के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से।

HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE  :  

This ₹2 Commemorative Coin was issued in 2003 to mark the completion of 50 glorious years of the of Indian railways, which began its journey in 1853 with the first passenger train running from Mumbai to Thane. It has played a crucial role in the country’s transportation, economic development, and connectivity. “Bholu” the mascot of Indian Railways, is an elephant. This gentle and friendly elephant represents the railway community and is often depicted in the uniform of a railway guard, symbolizing the importance of safety and service within the Indian Railway system. Bholu has become a widely recognized character, especially in promotional materials and as part of initiatives aimed at raising awareness about safety. 

This coin is admired, collected, and preserved by the numismatists to add glory to their collection.
