ऐतिहासिक महत्व :

1995 में, भारत सरकार ने तमिल दार्शनिक-कवि संत तिरुवल्लुवर के सम्मान में 8वें विश्व तमिल सम्मेलन के लिए विशेष स्मारक सिक्के जारी किए। ये सिक्के 1, 2 और 5 रुपये के मूल्यवर्ग में जारी किए गए, जो विशेष रूप से उनके महान साहित्यिक और दार्शनिक योगदान का प्रतीक हैं, खासकर उनकी उत्कृष्ट रचना “तिरुक्कुरल”  के माध्यम से। संत तिरुवल्लुवर ने नैतिकता, प्रेम और मानवीय गुणों पर आधारित 1,330 सूत्रों की रचना की थी। उनकी कृतियाँ पीढ़ियों के बीच गूंजती हुई आज भी प्रभावशाली बनी हुई हैं।

HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE  :  

In 1995, the Government of India issued special commemorative coins for the 8th World Tamil Conference, honoring the Tamil philosopher-poet Saint Thiruvalluvar. Released in denominations of 1, 2, and 5 rupees, symbolizing his contributions to Tamil literature and philosophy especially through his classic work, the *Tirukkural*. Saint Thiruvalluvar composed 1,330 aphorisms exploring ethics, love, and human virtues. His work remains influential, resonating with people across generations.

These coins have become prized collectibles, especially among numismatists interested in cultural heritage coins.
